Reflection Blog on Unit 2

During this unit we learned about what happened to slaves when they made it to the Americans and into the Civil War and during the time of the Civil War and what followed. To start, up until the civil war slaves were treated very harshly. They didn't meet the new world with open arms or a good life. African American slaves were treated with abuse and neglect. They had no rights and most children were ripped from their families. Leading up to the Civil War the southern states were treating their slaves very harshly, whilst the northern states had some leniency and believed that they should have some form of freedom, granted they didn't think this way for long, but they did. When laws were brought about to give them some protection the northern and southern states beliefs went against each other bringing about the civil war. During the time of the civil war, the slaves were finding ways to escape what was happening to them. They invented the underground railroad. This "rai
